Biography:
Varujan Boghosian was born in New Britain, Connecticut in
1926. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received
a Fulbright Grant to study painting in Italy in 1953. Upon
his return, he studied with Joseph Albers at the Yale School
of Art and Architecture where he received a BFA and MFA.
Varujan Boghosian has held teaching positions at the University
of Florida, Cooper Union, Pratt Institute, Yale University,
Brown University and , since 1968, has taught studio art at
Dartmouth College from which he recently retired. He has twice
been Sculptor in Residence at the American Academy in Rome
(1966-67 and 1975) and is the recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim
Memorial Foundation Fellowship (1985). He is a Member of the
American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Academy
of Design.
Varujan Boghosian’s work has been shown at Cordier and
Eckstrom, Stable Gallery, The Irving Gallery, Berta Walker
Gallery, Joan Washburn Gallery (the current representative
of his work), Hopkins Center, Dartmouth College and the DeCordova
Museum, Lincoln, MA.
